The Scripture reveals why Israel wanted a king: so they could be like all the other nations around them. Now recall that at Babel, all the nations had rejected God, and rejected the worship of God. It was the very reason God called Abraham out from his father’s house and from the nations, to make of him a nation which worshiped YHVH alone, which would not be like all the other nations; which would instead be set apart from all the other nations around them.

In the 2B pair, the wicked are cast into deep pits from which they cannot escape. The trap they had hoped to set for others, has come upon themselves. And that is the hope God is giving us. We may be contending with evil right now, but it shall not be established; rather, our own cause will be maintained and the day is coming when we will give thanks to YHVH for its defeat! ♥
Ephesians 3, Love that surpasses knowledge
Additional studies: Ephesians Index
Paul’s prayer is not that the Ephesians will merely know about, have a factual knowledge of Messiah’s love, but will experience Messiah’s love in its full totality, to its limits in its breadth, length, depth, and height. Then they will have surpassed knowledge. He’s praying for a love encounter with the living God. ♥
