Essential Studies.
1 Samuel 23, Strengthend in God (Additional studies: 1 and 2 Samuel Index)
Right when David must have been at a very low point, since victory over Goliath, and victory after victory in battle against the Philistines, did not garner him praise from his king but only persecution, God sent Jonathan to him to strengthen his hand in God. The Hebrew Root Word parable for Strong’s H2388 חזק chazaq, “to strengthen, to uphold,” is of a wall (chet) built up (zayin, as tools are used in building) so that it encircles (quph) so one can grab hold of and not let go. This is a repeating theme in Scripture (e.g., Jos 1), that the one whom God calls, the enemy opposes, so that His servant has need of courage. And what His servant has need of, YHVH provides. ♥
Psalm 148, Reverse Parallelism (Additional studies: Psalms Book Five (107-150) Index)
Acts 18, Chiastic structure (Additional studies: Acts Index)
