Essential Studies.
Ezekiel 23 and 24, Reverse parallelism
Additional studies: Ezekiel Index
I admit that it’s a depressing reverse parallelism. But here is the good news: Jerusalem will cease her harlotry. And we know that YHVH accomplished that exact end, because after the return from captivity, YHVH’s people were so abhorrent of idolatry that they would rather die than participate in it. It inspired the successful revolt of the Maccabees, which we will be remembering in Hanukkah in just a few weeks!
Psalm 127:1-128:6, Repeating Patterns
Additional studies: Psalms Book Five: 107-150 Index
Psalm 127 begins in the city (of Jerusalem) and moves toward the single family home. Psalm 128 ends with the blessing on the single family home, and moves out to the city (May you see the good of Jerusalem all the days of your life, vs. 5). The foundation of the blessed city, is the blessed home. And the blessing of the home comes upon one, seemingly without working for it, who concerns himself with YHVH and His ways.
