Essential Studies.
Jeremiah 48 and 49, Prophecies concerning the lands east of the Jordan
Additional studies: Jeremiah Index (in process)
And at the end of Jeremiah’s prophecy concerning Moab, YHVH declares that He will bring back the captives of Moab in the latter days (also the captives of Ammon, Jer 49:6, and Elam, Jer 49:39). The One sitting on the throne of mercy, in the tabernacle of David, is the One who releases the captives from captivity. Today, Jordan encompasses the territory which used to be Moab’s (as well as Ammon, and part of Edom). I believe this prophesies of a great revival which will sweep through these lands in the latter days! Watch for it, and do not be surprised when it happens!
Psalm 111, All His commandments are sure
Additional studies: Psalms, Book Five: Psalms 107-150 Index
When the word of God says “All His commandments are sure,” it is really saying that the whole of God’s commandments are able to build us up and support us; meditating on them and doing them enables us to be fostered and nourished, as a parent or a (wet) nurse fosters and nourishes a child — they are our spiritual food, they cause us to grow thereby. They are absolutely true in a world where morality is relative. They render the one who walks in them firm. On Christ (the Word made Flesh) the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand. That kind of firm.
Hebrews 5, Two startling truths
Additional studies: Hebrews Index
When we are tempted to sin, when we are beset with weaknesses, our first instinct is to hide from God, just like Adam hid from God in the Garden (Gen 3:8). Instead, we should come to God’s throne boldly, assuredly, confidently. His throne is, after all, the throne of grace, where He dispenses mercy, and gives us help to remain steadfast in our time of need.
