ESSENTIAL STUDIES.
Jeremiah 27 and 28, Chiastic structure
Additional studies: Jeremiah Index
Did you notice that YHVH establishes His authority in Jer 27:5, as the Creator of all, to place in power who He is pleased to place in power? And He then identifies Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, as His servant, to whom He has given the nations to rule (Nebuchadnezzar is also called ‘My servant’ by YHVH in Jer 25:9 and Jer 43:10). But Nebuchadnezzar is a pagan, an idolater, and a Babylonian! If you believe the narrative that is even prevalent in the church in our modern day, God would never raise up someone other than a perfect, Christian or Torah-observant king! To that wing of the church, I just have to say, read your Bible and Learn from the Narrative, and learn your history, because He has done it over and over again. When Yeshua returns, then we will have the perfect King of righteousness ruling us, but not until then.
I believe the counsel of Scripture for Americans, who vote for their leaders, is to pray before exercising that power, and keep praying, until you have heard from YHVH for whom to cast the vote. His purposes are His own, and His choice, of the one He will use, calling him, My servant, My shepherd, and My anointed, may very well not look like your choice. But He knows each man’s heart and spine, and more importantly, what His people will be facing in the future, and He knows who He has prepared with sufficient heart and spine to meet that challenge.
Psalm 114, Reverse parallelism

This psalm contains no paragraph divisions at all, except for end of line divisions inherent in every psalm. But how do the A pairs, pair? When Judah became His sanctuary, it is because His presence came among Israel and dwelt among Israel. The elements of the earth saw and recognized the awesome presence of God. The element of mountain and hill (rock) God turned into the element of sea and river (water). You might say He took the hearts of stone and made them living, so that out of them flowed rivers of living water (Eze 36:26, Joh 7:38). But now let the whole earth tremble at the presence of the God of Jacob, because He is turning every nation to His people, and His presence fills every corner through them! ♥
Hebrews 7, The better covenant
Additional studies: Hebrews Index
With Yeshua as our High Priest, we have a better hope, and are living in a better covenant. It is not that the “old” covenant has passed away–Paul taught us that a covenant enacted later cannot nullify a covenant which was ratified earlier (Gal 3:17). But that covenant, by providing Natural Pictures of tabernacle, sacrifices, congregation, and priesthood, prophetically foreshadowed the better covenant. In the better covenant, instead of the blood of bulls and goats needing to be offered daily to atone for sins, the blood of Messiah Yeshua was offered once for all to atone for sins (Heb 7:27). In the better covenant, instead of the Law of God being written without us on tablets of stone, that same Law is now written within us by the power of the Holy Spirit, on the tablets of our hearts (Heb 7:27). Obedience to the Law does not solve man’s fundamental problem of the sin nature, but the new birth in Messiah Yeshua does solve it, thus the better covenant and the better hope.
