Zedekiah at first submitted, but after a time, he allied himself with Egypt and rebelled against Nebuchadnezzar, instigating the fourth advance against Jerusalem by the Babylonians. And after a siege of 2-1/2 years, the city fell (586 BC). Nebuchadnezzar by this time had had enough of the rebellions of the kings of Judah, and he removed the house of David from being king over them. It looked as if the promise of God to David had failed … but God’s promises fail not. God was not done, and this was not the last act on the stage of world history for either Judah or the prince of the house of David!

And finally we have a strong paragraph division, the first since the conclusion of Psa 112! It indicates that Psa 113-118 continues on the same topic or theme; my initial sense of it, is the praise, glory, and majesty of YHVH for all His wonderful works, and mercy and truth toward men. For even though His children may fall into distress in this fallen world, He delivers him. Where we are today, is not where we will be when YHVH is through – the end of our story is written from the foundation of the world, and it is good as He is good! ♥
Hebrews 10, Those who are being sanctified

So then what is the value of the written Law, if that Law has also been written on the heart? There is great value … for the verb tense in the Greek in these chapters, speaking of the sanctification and perfection of worshipers from the heart, is one of continuing action. Salvation or justification, right- standing before God, takes place in a moment in time; sanctification or purifying the life of dead and unrighteous works, takes place over the lifetime. The written code is our plumb line in a crooked and perverse world, which instructs us in righteousness and sin. As we learn, we adjust our life and practice, out of a joyful heart of love toward God and our neighbor.
