The Hebrew paragraph:
9:1-20 {p} YHVH has not forgotten the humble, but will judge the world in righteousness.
And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; for You, O YHVH, have not forsaken those who seek You. Psa 9:10
The Hebrew Root Word to put trust in is from Strong’s H982 בטח batach, a primitive root meaning, “to trust.” The 3-letter root is bet + tet + chet.
bet ב = the house, thus house, household, family, in, within
tet ט = the basket, thus surround, contain, hold, mud
chet ח = the wall, thus outside, divide, half
The parable being told is of the family (bet) surrounded by (tet) the wall (chet). The abstract concept from this verbal root is security, because the family is secure within the walls of their house. When someone has put their trust in YHVH, then they become secure in Him, surrounded by His mercy, provision, and protection as a wall.
According to Webster’s, trust is an assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something. Putting our trust in God means we securely rely on His character, ability, strength, and truth.
Putting trust is something we do every day. When we worry or are anxious, or fearful, those emotions are a red flag on top of the hill in our heart that says, “I have placed my trust in whatever negative thing I am worrying about, to be true and to come to pass.”
But if, when we feel anxious or fearful, we say, “I recognize this fear to be a fruit of trusting in a negative outcome. But I reject trusting in a negative outcome; I hereby remove my trust from it, and place my trust in YHVH and His mercy, provision, and protection. I have assurance that His character, ability, strength, and the truth of His promises is what will prevail; so that I will go forward in peace and security, not fear.”
Why does knowing His name cause us to put our trust in Him, and not in the negative outcome? His personal name, Yehovah, means, “I am the Living One, the Self-Existent and Eternal, who was, and who is, and who is to come. My hand, behold! The nail, behold! I am He who redeems you from destruction.”
“See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands.” Isa 49:16
“Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself.” Luk 24:39
