ESSENTIAL STUDIES.
1 Chronicles 1 and 2, Genealogies from Adam

I think a third thing we can learn from genealogies, is that individuals matter to God! Who, in the grand scheme of things, cares about Abihail, the wife of Abishur, who never did anything great in her life, but was the wife of one man and the mother of two others (1 Chr 2:29)? I will tell you who cares about her: God cares, and her name is recorded in the eternal word of God which endures forever, as a testimony that God sees individuals, knows them, and takes note of them, even the ones whom man dismisses because they never did anything great. In God’s eyes, they did do something great: they were faithful husbands and wives, and fathers and mothers, who raised children who went on to be faithful husbands and wives, and fathers and mothers in their turn.
Proverbs 2, Treasuring His commands
Additional studies: Proverbs Index
How do we receive His words and treasure His commands? The A pair reveals His words are to dwell within us, and His wisdom is to enter our hearts. Heart is from Strong’s H3823 לבב (lamed + bet +bet) labab, “to be hollow.” The Hebrew Root Word parable is that which is yoked (lamed) within (bet) the house (bet); i.e., the heart is a hollow organ (as a house is hollow), and is meant to hold something within it (as the house holds the family within it). What it holds within is the life-giving blood, which it then distributes to all corners of the body. In the same way, the spiritual heart or inner man is hollow and is meant to hold something within it that it distributes to all corners of the person. YHVH admonishes us to be sure that His words are what fills our hearts. They are life-giving, and the heart will distribute that life from the inner man to all corners of the person. What enters our eyes and our ears enters our hearts. Keep His word ever before you!
Colossians 1, Chiastic structure

Through Him (by His Word) He created all things for Himself, and through Him He reconciled all things to Himself. In other words, what God created, He carried the responsibility of, even if that responsibility extended to their reconciliation at His own expense. He is a perfect Father, and no sacrifice was too great to fulfill His responsibility to His creation or to express His love for His creation—without our help, without our invitation, and without our winsomeness or attractiveness to compel His sacrifice. We were enemies ensnared in wicked works. That depth of love comforts me. ♥
