ESSENTIAL STUDIES.
Isaiah 54, Chiastic structure
Additional studies: Isaiah Index
The context is made clear by the structure: If someone stirs up strife against Israel, it is not at His instigation. God is assuring Israel that as the Creator, He is in control of the destroyer and his weapons. So if the Creator says, “No weapon formed against you will prosper,” He means, NO weapon, including anything the smith and destoyer can come up with.
Psalm 86, Reverse parallelism
Additional studies: Psalms Book Three: 73-89 Index
You might say that because of A: God is good, and abundant in mercy to all who call upon Him, we will have B: all nations shall come and bow down before Him. God’s goodness is the first cause, and worship is the result. ♥
John 9, The blind see
Additional studies: John Index
The Pharisees said in essence to the man born blind, ‘We see, and you do not,’ and they cast him out of the synagogue. The Greek word, “to see,” (Strong’s G991, βλέπω) means not only to see with the natural eyes, but also to perceive with spiritual eyes, to comprehend or understand. Because they believed themselves to be seeing, that is, to have greater insight or understanding than others, they were blinded. A blind man does not perceive light, and the Pharisees could not perceive Jesus the light of the world.
