The first occurrence.
And the earth was unformed and void; and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God hovered over the face of the waters. Gen 1:2
The primitive root.
Strong’s H8415 tehoym, a concrete noun meaning, “deep, depth;” from Strong’s H1949 הום huym, a primitive root meaning, “to put into motion, to disturb.” The 3-letter root is hey + vav + mem.
hey ה = man w/ raised arms, thus look, reveal, wonder, worship, breath
vav ו = the tent peg, thus add, secure, hook
mem מ, ם = the water, thus chaos, mighty, blood
The story: When the living breath (hey, i.e., the Spirit) connects (vav) to the water (mem), activity or motion occurs, likely from its first occurrence in Scripture:
And the earth was unformed and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God hovered over the face of the waters. Gen 1:2
