But then Torah goes even deeper, and reveals that we can, through careless divorce and adultery, even steal the purity of the land. But it is not only the land God cares for: in His wisdom, He reveals the key principle to ensure that the life and vitality of the family is not stolen from it. He concludes His instruction on theft by revealing the only theft which is a capital crime (kidnapping—the theft of a person) demanding the same capital punishment as murder, and why.

Psalm 109, The accusations of the wicked
Additional studies: Psalms Book Five (107-150) Index
The wicked wrong the righteous through his mouth, by lying about him. The wicked surround the righteous with words of hatred. The righteous did good to him, but the wicked accused him in return. When we think of wickedness, we tend to think of actions. But wickedness begins with thoughts, first, and proceeds to words, which are just voiced thoughts, before it proceeds to actions. When we allow our mouths to be used to accuse another, we have just partnered with Satan in his work. Let not a wicked mouth be found among us, O God!
