ESSENTIAL STUDIES.
Deuteronomy Whole Book Chiastic Structure

The theme of the book I am seeing, is Repentance, and Return. Israel’s repentance and return is overtly stated in the conclusion, but if we think about it a little bit, it is also covertly stated in the introduction. When Deuteronomy first opens, Israel is once more at the border of the Promised Land, just as they were thirty-eight years earlier when the twelve spies were sent out (Num 13). Thirty-eight years earlier, they had an opportunity to enter the Land, but they disobeyed the Word of YHVH, and did not enter in. They suffered the consequence of disobedience (wilderness wandering), and repented, and returned, which is where we find them at the opening of the book.
Psalm 114, Reverse Parallelism
Additional studies: Psalms Book Five (107-150) Index
This psalm contains no paragraph divisions at all, except for end of line divisions inherent in every psalm. But how do the A pairs, pair? Judah became His sanctuary because His presence came among Israel and dwelt among Israel. The elements of the earth saw and recognized the awesome presence of God. The element of mountain and hill (stone) God turned into the element of sea and river (water). You might say He took the hearts of stone and made them living, so that out of them flowed rivers of living water (Eze 36:26, Joh 7:38). But now let the whole earth tremble at the presence of the God of Jacob, because He is turning every nation to His people, and His presence fills every corner through them! ♥
Mark 8, Taking Up our Execution Stake
Additional studies: Mark Index
This means my goals, my agenda, my wants and desires, my rights, my interests, my honor, my prestige, my wealth and my acquisition of comforts to please my flesh and my sense of pride—all of these things that are about me me me—I daily nail to the execution stake. I have to make decisions on a daily basis, even an hourly basis: who am I going to gratify with my words, my actions, the attention of my heart, and the expenditure of my time? Even if I have prayed a sinner’s prayer, if the decisions I make every day gratify self, and do not glorify Jesus, then who I am following? Not Jesus!
