ESSENTIAL STUDIES.
Joshua 7 and 8, That which is Devoted to YHVH
Additional studies: Joshua Index
Now that the firstfruits of Canaan—Jericho—had been given to YHVH, the men had permission to take the spoil of Ai for themselves. There was nothing wrong with Israel having things. Achan’s sin was keeping YHVH’s devoted things. If only Achan had waited! God did not reveal this bit of information to Israel beforehand, however. He asks us to trust Him in faith, and out of that trust, to obey Him, Amen?
Psalm 118, Chiastic Structure
Additional studies: Psalms Book Five (107-150) Index
And finally we have a strong paragraph division, the first since the conclusion of Psa 112! It indicates that Psa 113-118 continues on the same topic or theme; my initial sense of it, is the praise, glory, and majesty of YHVH for all His wonderful works, and mercy and truth toward men. For even though His children may fall into distress in this fallen world, YHVH delivers him. Where we are today, is not where we will be when YHVH is done–the end of our story is written from the foundation of the world, and it is good as He is good! ♥
Mark 10, Causes of Sin
Additional studies: Mark Index
In yesterday’s structure, from Mar 9:33-50, we saw that a possible cause of sin was a self- serving or self- seeking spirit, wanting to exalt itself in pride. Today we see that a possible cause of sin may be hardness of heart. If anyone is dealing with a persistent sin in their life, perhaps its root is not the sin itself, but one of these two conditions. Repenting of them, and asking God to be cleansed of them in the name of Yeshua may do more to bring victory over the sin than any mustering of will power. ♥
