Instead of biblical scholars confirming the accuracy of Isaiah’s prophecy, did you know most debate it, coming up with all kinds of caveats to explain why the years don’t add up? They expect the fall of Samaria to be the conclusion of the prophecy. They trot out copyist errors at every opportunity. Those pin-headed theologians!

To meditate is to mull over, often aloud to yourself, but also, dwelling on a thing with God in the conversation, so some versions translate this word as “pray,” however, that shortchanges this word’s meaning. The idea is that meditation, throwing your thoughts outside, results in murmuring, which can sometimes be an expressed disquietude of the heart or mind, but is often a positive, contented, or peaceful humming.

I wonder if Paul chafed at his lengthy imprisonment without resolution. However, it was during this time that he wrote his letters to the churches, that became the epistles in our New Testament. He couldn’t go any longer to the church himself and resolve problems in person, so he had to put pen to paper and send his counsel by letter. What a blessing for us! Could it be that a trial we are going through, a seeming delay in a resolution to prayer, will still be, in God’s wisdom, bearing fruit two millennia later? It was for Paul! The wise in heart wait on the Lord in all things! ♥
