So I see these seeming opposites of God’s Word, such as faith and works, or law and grace, not as opposites, but as two sides to the same coin. Understanding the whole “coin” is beyond us, it is too great for us, but we can see the picture on either side. And then Christians fight over which picture is the “correct” one. Can we not embrace the whole truth of God’s word?
If grace is declared to be the correct interpretation of God’s Word, and law incorrect (or vice versa) then those parts of God’s Word which declare law must be diminished or discarded. If free will is declared to be the correct interpretation of God’s Word, and predestination incorrect (or vice versa) then those parts of God’s Word which declare predestination must be diminished or discarded. When we diminish or discard any part of the Word of God, we have marred the perfect expression in human language of His truth. We have erred.
