ESSENTIAL STUDIES.
Judges 11 and 12, The state of a man’s heart
Additional studies: Judges Index
Truly what matters with God, is the state of a man’s heart, not his status in the world’s eyes, his accomplishments, his past, or even his future which his privilege and position have laid out for him. The pattern we have seen, with Gideon and now with Jephthah, is that of 1 Cor 1:26-29, that not many wise, mighty, or noble according to the flesh, are called.
Psalm 130, Chiastic Structure
Additional studies: Psalms Book Five (107-150) Index
The Father not only forgives sin because He is merciful (“justification”), but He also redeems from iniquity. He delivers from the allure and chains and bondage of sin, changing the person from the inside out, so that the desire to sin is no longer there, in a process the New Testament calls, “sanctification.”
Galatians 2, The true Gospel
Additional studies: Galatians Index
Paul and the apostles taught that that salvation by grace through faith (‘justification,’ which happens in an instant of time), came first, and then as the believer grows in the knowledge of God, they grow into obedience (‘sanctification,’ which happens over a lifetime). In the very center stands God’s impartiality. Salvation is the same wonderful gift for everyone, by grace through faith in Messiah Yeshua.
