Essential Studies.
2 Kings 23:1-30 and 2 Chronicles 35, Josiah, king of Judah
Additional studies: 1 & 2 Kings Index; 1 & 2 Chronicles Index
Judah and Jerusalem were under a death sentence because of their transgressions of the Law (2 Kin 22:16-17). But Josiah the king was delivered from certain death (2 Kin 22:18-20), and as long as Josiah was Judah’s king, the death sentence against Judah was reprieved for his sake. This is a sign of Messiah: that of resurrection and life in the face of certain death. Mankind is also under a death sentence because of our transgressions of the Law, but when Messiah is our king, the death sentence against us is lifted for His sake.
Psalm 107, Patterns
Additional studies: Psalms, Book Five: Psalms 107-150 Index
YHVH is good at all times, and deals with man in mercy: He establishes the homeless; He delivers the captives; He heals the sick; He calms the storm; He delivers a land from wickedness and oppression. Whoever is wise will consider these things! ♥
Hebrews 3, Holding our confidence steadfast
Additional studies: Hebrews Index
To hold our confidence steadfast to the end, is to stand firm in what we believe, no matter what, to the end. To the end of what? To the end of the waiting period, when we finally see or receive that which we have been expecting. And what we are expecting: eternal life with God.
