Psalm 11 Hebrew paragraph divisions:
For the Leader. A Psalm of David. {n}
Psa 11:1 In the Lord I put my trust; How can you say to my soul, “Flee as a bird to your mountain”?
Psa 11:2a For look! The wicked bend their bow, They make ready their arrow on the string, {n}
Psa 11:2b That they may shoot secretly at the upright in heart.
Psa 11:3 If the foundations are destroyed, What can the righteous do?
Psa 11:4a The Lord is in His holy temple, The Lord’s throne is in heaven; {n}
Psa 11:4b His eyes behold, His eyelids test the sons of men.
Psa 11:5 The Lord tests the righteous, But the wicked and the one who loves violence His soul hates.
Psa 11:6 Upon the wicked He will rain coals; Fire and brimstone and a burning wind Shall be the portion of their cup.
Psa 11:7 For the Lord is righteous, He loves righteousness; His countenance beholds the upright. {p}
Please note that the Hebrew of vs. 7 reads, For the LORD is righteous, He loves righteousness, The upright shall behold His countenance, (Psalm 11, The Hebrew Bible in English HBE).
I could not see that the entirety of Psalm 11 makes a single chiastic structure. However, there is one in the last half of the psalm, following the final {n} division:
Psa 11:4b-7
1a) Psa 11:4b, His eyes behold + test the sons of men;
1b) Psa 11:5, The LORD tests the righteous, but His soul hates the wicked + one who loves violence;
central axis) Psa 11:6, Upon the wicked He will rain coals; Fire + brimstone + burning wind shall be their portion;
2b) Psa 11:7a, For the LORD is righteous, He loves righteousness;
2a) Psa 11: 7b, The upright shall behold His countenance. {p}
He beholds us, and we behold Him, if we are upright. If we do what is right as He does what is right, and love what is right as He loves what is right, then His face we shall see. In order to know whether that is so or not, the LORD tests the sons of men. A lot of people talk a good talk, but do they walk a good walk? Testing reveals what is true. (This is a universal principle, and is why repeatable experimentation is the bedrock of science, and cross examination of witnesses is the bedrock of the courtroom.)
A test is not necessarily a set of bad circumstances. It is merely a situation where one must choose to believe or speak or do what is right. What we choose is what we love. And likewise, we love what we choose, regardless of what we or others tell ourselves about it. That is inescapable human nature.
