ESSENTIAL STUDIES.
Deuteronomy 15:1-16:17, Honor the Sabbath day summary
Additional studies: Deuteronomy Index
When they were slaves in Egypt, Israel did not observe a day of rest. But as soon as they were free men of His kingdom, He taught them to rest (Exo 16). When we do not honor the Sabbath day, we are living as if we were yet slaves and not free. But when we do honor the Sabbath day, we proclaim the Gospel of grace by the actions of our lives, not only by the words of our mouths, for we cease from our own work(s) and place our trust in Him.

This psalm does not end with a strong {p} Hebrew paragraph division, and as I looked into it, neither did Psalm 104 that we just studied. It means that Psalm 104-105-106 (at least) are together teaching a single theme. Psalm 104 dwelt more on the history of God as Creator over His creation, and this psalm dwells more on the history of the emergence of Israel as a nation. God, by His supernatural wisdom and ability, created the heavens and the earth, and then, by His supernatural wisdom and ability, He created a people for Himself.
Mark 1, That Jesus is the Son of God
Additional studies: Mark Index
Each of the gospel writers wrote their gospel in order to testify of Jesus, yes, and tell what they had been eyewitnesses of, but also to bring out a certain aspect of the Lord’s identity. Matthew showed that Jesus was the Son of David, the promised Messiah. Mark is showing that Jesus was the Son of God; and we can see that this is in fact one of the first things Mark says about Jesus in vs. 1. By the way, Luke showed that Jesus was the Son of Adam, the Son of Man, the Savior for all mankind, and not Jews only. And John showed that Jesus was in fact YHVH come in the flesh; that He was fully man, and fully God, in one person.
Whatever aspect of His identity is denied, there is a corresponding heresy that either restricts salvation, restricts His glory and worship, or restricts His authority and power over His enemy Satan. The heresies diminish Him or diminish what He has accomplished for us on our behalf. The four Gospels which have been inspired by the Holy Spirit, reveal His nature and character, so that we may learn and know Him!
