ESSENTIAL STUDIES.
Deuteronomy 19, Do not commit murder

Consider that the Law itself is an ancient boundary stone. It has set boundaries for determining truth, for judging right and wrong, justice and criminal activity, and the right exercise of punishment, not for a power rush, but specifically to prevent the spread of evil in society, and so secure peace and security for the vast majority of the law-abiding population. When you move the ancient boundary stone (the parameters defined by Torah), you are in danger of committing murder by allowing evil to grow; by giving hatred an open door to rise up against innocent victims. Blood-guiltiness increases in the land, so that the murderer finds refuge.

The thread runs through the psalm that in one way or another, man brings trouble upon himself when he ignores YHVH and His wisdom, which He has given to the sons of men so that they might live a blessed life on this side of heaven (Deu 28). Because man ignored YHVH and His wisdom, we have lack, pain, and death. However, despite that, God has poured out His mercy to man, in that He has revealed His ways to him in Torah, which will open the doors of blessing over his head instead of the doors of cursing, privation, and trouble. And then, even when our trouble is of our own making, when we cry out to Him in the midst of it, He delivers us. ♥
Mark 3, What is Lawful on the Sabbath
Additional studies: Mark Index
Now over time, the Pharisees and teachers of the Torah had built up an elaborate system of dos and don’ts for the Sabbath, which amounted to if a person did anything at all, he was breaking the Sabbath. God did not prohibit every activity, just that work which provides an income. But the Pharisees, because they did not understand the spirit of compassion that was behind the command to rest, prohibited almost all activity, even doing good on the Sabbath. Jesus did good on the Sabbath precisely to correct this imbalance.
