ESSENTIAL STUDIES.
2 Samuel 3 and 4, And how YHVH did not give the kingdom to David all in one day
Additional studies: 1 and 2 Samuel Index
David understood that since YHVH was for him, he did not have to go out and make his kingship happen out of the strength of his own flesh. All he had to do was live in peace, following the ways of YHVH, and YHVH would bring His own purposes for David about in His own time. David waited upon YHVH. Yeshua reiterates the same: If someone takes your cloak, give him your shirt too, and if someone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles, and if someone strikes you on one cheek, offer him the other also (Mat 5:38-42).
Proverbs 8, The wisdom and word of God
Additional studies: Proverbs Index
Yeshua does not stop crying out to the sons of men – all the sons of men. He is calling to them in every place they may be found. All we need to do, is pray for their ears of their hearts to be opened to His cry, in order for them to hear His voice. And guess who hears His voice? His sheep (Joh 10:27). Even if they do not know they are His sheep yet.
1 Thessalonians 1, Preaching without words
Additional studies: 1 and 2 Thessalonians Index
Paul’s demonstration of power is what caused the Gentile and pagan Thessalonians to realize that what he was telling them was the truth. It activated their faith so that they could be saved. So then notice how the surrounding region received the word of God from the Thessalonians: it was by the testimony of their changed lives, their departure from paganism and their faith toward God—the testimony of Jesus that spread far beyond their city walls and preached to all far and near. So much so that when Paul arrived in a new town, he did not need to preach to them, but they preached the testimony of the Thessalonians to him!
