The Hebrew paragraphs:
47:1-3 {p} Babylon’s throne to be removed, her shame seen, for YHVH will take vengeance
47:4-7 {p} Babylon no longer the Lady of kingdoms, for she showed Israel no mercy
47:8-15 {p}Babylon’s sorceries and enchantments shall not save her when her trouble arises suddenly
The Strong theme:
46:3-47:3 {sx4+p} It is YHVH God who made, and who will uphold, save, deliver Israel, not idols/ He will take vengeance on Babylon
The Chiastic structure:
Isaiah is the proto-Revelation, and many things for which John’s vision provides more detail, are first prophesied in Isaiah:
And the Spirit of YHVH will rest upon Him, a Spirit of wisdom and understanding, a Spirit of counsel and might, a Spirit of knowledge and fear of YHVH. Isa 11:2
These things says He who has the seven Spirits of God … Rev 3:1
“Fallen, fallen is Babylon,” Isa 21:9
“Fallen, fallen is Babylon the Great,” Rev 18:2
And I will place the key of the house of David upon his shoulder, and he will open, and none shall shut; and he will shut, and none shall open. Isa 22:22
These things says .. the One having the key of David, the One who opens and no one will shut, and who shuts and no one opens. Rev 3:7
He will slay the dragon that is in the sea. Isa 27:1
And the great dragon was thrown down, the ancient serpent, the one called Devil and Satan. Rev 12:9
“I am First, and I am Last,” Isa 44:6
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last,” Rev 1:11
For you will no more be called Mistress of Kingdoms. Isa 47:5
And the woman whom you saw is the great city, the one having kingship over the kings of the earth. Rev 17:18
Hear this, you lover of pleasures, who sits securely, Isa 47:8
As much as she glorified herself and lived luxuriously, Rev 18:7
“I shall not sit as a widow,” Isa 47:9
“And am no widow,” Rev 18:7
But these things shall come upon you in a moment, in one day: … Calamity … disaster … desolation shall come upon you suddenly.” Isa 47:9-11
In one day her plagues will come. Rev 18:8
Stand now with your enchantments and with the multitude of your sorceries, Isa 47:12
By your sorcery all the nations were deceived. Rev 18:23
It simply means that Revelation is not new, even though it sits in the New Testament; God has been telling the end from the beginning (Isa 46:10) and we will likely see more parallels coming up.
