Supersessionism, also known as replacement theology, is the belief that the Church has replaced Israel as God’s chosen people, superseding the covenant YHVH made with Israel in the Hebrew Bible. It suggests that the New Covenant through Jesus Christ renders the Old Covenant with Israel obsolete, transferring God’s promises originally made to Israel, to the Church, while viewing Jews as rejected or no longer central to God’s plan.
Historically, this theology emerged in early Christianity (as in the writings of Justin Martyr, 2nd century) and became dominant in medieval Christian thought, often leading to antisemitic attitudes by interpreting biblical judgments (like 2 Kin 17:20) as permanent divine rejection of Jews.
But the errors of this theology are easily dismantled …

God sends out His voice, a mighty voice (Psa 68:32-33). His voice is so mighty, that even those who have stopped up their ears will hear it. Thus, no one will have an excuse before God. The key question is not whether the deaf will hear–they will. But what will they do with what they have heard? We must be praying for a repentant response. (Teshuvah Day 24 of 40)

The Law serves an integral purpose to prepare a person to receive Christ through faith. There is such a problem in our churches of raising our children to remain in the faith upon reaching adulthood. We don’t teach the authority and truth of the Law and the Hebrew Testament to our children in our churches, and losing our children is the fruit this lapse is bearing. Jesus even boldly says:
“For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?” Joh 5:46-47
