ESSENTIAL STUDIES.
Song of Solomon 3 and 4, First love
Additional studies: Song of Solomon Index
First, isn’t it amazing that to our Bridegroom, we are all fair, and there is no spot in us? (Son 4:7). Of all people, He who paid the price for our sin, and all our spots, ought to know them. But we have been washed in His blood, and betrothed to Him. We are now clean, without spot or blemish, and so He sees us. When we see ourselves as we were, but not as we are, then we charge Him with bearing false witness, and that ought not be so.
Proverbs 31, The woman of valor
Additional studies: Proverbs Index
How is the woman who fears YHVH as a woman of valor? Chaos reigns in a house left to itself. The task of bringing order out of chaos, tidiness out of the ever pervasive accumulation of dirt and clutter, nourishing and delicious food to meet hunger which is never satisfied (because the next day you only have to do it again), and wise children out of fools, is a task that looms before a woman like a wall, every bit as daunting as a walled city. It is not beauty that will bore a hole in that wall to conquer it, but a woman who fears YHVH.
Luke 10, Authority over all the power of the enemy
Additional studies: Luke Index
Authority is the legal right to issue commands. Power is the ability to carry out those commands. Adam lost his dominion when he bowed his knee to the enemy. The enemy has usurped power to carry out evil ends. But Jesus restored rightful dominion or authority. He has given His disciples the authority to override him. The authority or exousia which Jesus has delegated to His disciples implies the power or dunamis to accomplish what has been commanded. Don’t be afraid to use it!
