ESSENTIAL STUDIES.
1 Kings 10, Solomon’s glory
Additional studies: 1 and 2 Kings Index
Solomon traded in luxury items and wealth from regions east (Ophir) and west (Tarshish), and north (Kue, Hittites, Aram) and south (Sheba, Egypt); that is, all the known world. The glory of his throne foreshadows the glory of Messiah’s throne when He returns as King of kings and Lord of lords (Rev 19:16).
Psalm 4, The set apart
Additional studies: Psalms Book One: 1-41 Index
Notice that the answer to the prayer doesn’t involve a lessening in the love of either vanity or falsehood among the sons of men. The answer isn’t in a change in outward circumstances. But in this answer, God puts gladness in the heart, and peace in the heart, so that the godly man now sleeps in peace, rather than being in anxious turmoil because of distress. The increase of the sons of men has not diminished, but his safety has grown. For the source of the security of the sons of men is in their material increase, a fickle thing at best; but the source of his own security is in YHVH, who is constant, unflagging, and sure.
