The B pairs are similar to this same account in Matthew: the anointing of the woman with the costly spikenard prepared His body for what was coming, and the prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane prepared His spirit for what was coming.
The central axis of the trial at the high priest’s house asks and answers the question that the entire Gospels were written to testify of: that Messiah Yeshua is the Messiah, the Son of the Most High God!
