ESSENTIAL STUDIES.
1 Samuel 17, David, a Messiah type
Additional studies: 1 and 2 Samuel Index
David is a type of Messiah in Scripture, and the teaching tool of the Signs of Messiah begins to shine a spotlight on David. One of the signs is resurrection life, or life delivered from certain death, and this is exactly what David experienced. His death seemed certain, but instead he triumphed over the enemies of Israel, just as Messiah did and does!
Psalm 145, Reverse Parallelism
Additional studies: Psalms Book Five (107-150) Index
The 1B pair speaks of the great power and authority of YHVH, and the 2B pair speaks of the great care YHVH has for all under His authority. This is the true nature of authority; it does not lord it over or enslave, but godly authority in every case uses power to care for and bless those under it. The central axis’ of the B pair also pair. Great is YHVH, and righteous, but also great in tender mercy and compassion!
Ephesians 6, Having done all, to stand
Additional studies: Ephesians Index
To stand is in Greek, Strong’s G2476, ἵστημι hístēmi. Tracing back through the Septuagint to the Hebrew, the word is Strong’s H5975, עמד amad, “to stand.” The Hebrew Root Word parable is of looking out (ayin) over a mighty body (mem, like a mighty sea; thus also people, as of many people amassed as a mighty sea). Therefore a mighty people (ayin + mem) like an upright frame (dalet, upon which the door curtain hangs), i.e. standing upright, often with the meaning of standing for something, or standing your ground. It means, when the enemy or our circumstances lie a lie to us which flies in the face of the Word of God, we stand up and affirm the truth; we do not lie down and let the lie walk over us.
