Nahum 1 through 3, Notes on the destruction of Nineveh
There is disagreement among scholars when the prophet Nahum lived, but it seems he may have been contemporary with Isaiah and provided the second part of God’s prophecy concerning Nineveh, begun by Jonah. Jonah prophesied the destruction of Nineveh unless she repent of her ways. Nineveh repented, and the promised destruction was held off. But upon Nineveh’s return to her former wickedness, YHVH again repeated that destruction was coming—this time from which there could be no turning.

Do we realize that the Gospel–the good news of His salvation–did not appear out of thin air with the birth of Jesus Christ, but that there has been one Gospel, one good news of YHVH’s salvation, from Genesis to Revelation? In Genesis 1, before man or any living thing was created upon the earth, God placed the stars in the heavens to serve as witnesses, it says in Hebrew.
