Essential Studies.
Exodus 33, The tabernacle of meeting
Additional studies: Exodus Index
It is not an accident that the seemingly out of place detail about Moses pitching the tabernacle of moed, of meeting, is sandwiched between the bad news of God’s Presence separated from Israel, and the good news (“gospel”) of “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest,” (Exo 33:14). The tabernacle of moed, which is a prophetic picture of Messiah and the new birth, of God’s Presence dwelling with the believer through Messiah, brings us to the good news!
Jeremiah 11 and 12, Persecution arising for the Word’s sake
Additional studies: Jeremiah Index (coming)
Jeremiah, when faced with this reality, did not strive in his own defense, but put his trust in YHVH, and YHVH took care of him. The plans of the wicked did not come to pass. They did with Yeshua, but it was YHVH’s will to crush Him. And that is the key: we must seek YHVH and His will, and not a specific outcome for ourselves of easy circumstances. It may be YHVH’s will that we go through trials, so that we gain strength to run with horses and not just footmen. We don’t know—but whatever happens, we can trust that He is on His throne and all things will work out ultimately for our benefit, even if we are martyred for His sake. We can rejoice and give honor unto Him in every instance!
Psalm 102, In the day of my trouble
Additional studies: Psalms, Book Four: Psalms 90-106 Index
Notice that after the psalmist pours out his complaint to God, he doesn’t end there. Beginning in verse 12, he reminds himself that no matter his circumstances, YHVH our God shall endure forever! Nations will fear the name of YHVH, and kings of nations will fear the glory of YHVH which will be revealed. This great YHVH will have mercy on Zion. He will regard the prayer of His servants. He will hear their groaning and release them from death. Let the praise of God be continually in our mouths! ♥
