The strong theme is a prophetic picture YHVH was speaking to Judah, to warn them (besides the warnings they already had in Torah, which they ignored) that continued unfaithfulness would result in defeat and captivity. Even this prophetic warning however, ended with the return of the captives, just as YHVH had promised, despite all their unfaithfulness.
What causes a people to be unfaithful to YHVH God? I do believe when we remove the ancient landmarks that the men of old have set (Deu 19:14), in other words, when we stop doing the things YHVH has commanded us to do, and redefine righteousness and sin — all things bounded by the ancient landmark of Torah — we have started on the path of unfaithfulness, and ultimately, of being brought low. But when the blessing and curse comes upon the people, and their eyes are opened to their sin, and they repent, the good, gracious, and forgiving God restores them and returns them. Thank You Father!

God will judge the people righteously, and Himself govern the nations of the earth when Messiah Yeshua returns to rule and reign for 1000 years (central axis, Rev 20:4-6). As the earth increases in the knowledge of God’s way and salvation, the fruitfulness of the earth shall increase (B pair). The Hebrew word torah (the knowledge of God’s way and path) incidentally comes from the Hebrew root word yarah, the agricultural term that means, the heavens cast forth rain, and the earth casts forth fruit. The knowledge of God’s way and His salvation is intricately tied to the blessing of the earth’s increase, and is even embedded in Hebrew, God’s beautiful language from the beginning!
